Tanglewood Marionettes Presents an Arabian Adventure

By Layni Loumiotis-Hook Publisher, Macaroni Kid Cape Cod July 23, 2019

About the Show:

An energetic tale, full of surprises set in exotic lands and featuring Tanglwood Marionettes‘ signature story book backdrop, An Arabian Adventure tells the tale of Persian prince Akeem, who is thrown into a dungeon because of his love for the beautiful princess Kasima.  Facing danger at every turn, the courageous prince must use his wits to escape his prison, defeat the diabolical Vizier, and save the princess from a tragic fate.  Replete with clever stage illusions and lighting effects, An Arabian Adventure is a fast-paced, action-packed drama that is especially good for older children.  Tanglewood Marionettes is the recipient of two UNIMA awards, puppetry's highest honor, for our productions An Arabian Adventure and The Dragon King.  While they specialize in school assembly programs, they also perform at fairs, festivals, libraries, theaters, museums and corporate events throughout New England and beyond. Please see their website for more information on their shows and workshops.

My Favorite Part:

The special effects in this show are impressive.  The evil Vizier's eyes glow red, the skeleton becomes decapitated, and the cobra literally bursts into REAL flames.  The storybook backdrop's professionally rendered illustrations are breathtaking, and seem to be magically illuminated lending to the drama of this production.  Adults in the audience were as excited about the show as the children.

My Kids' Favorite Part:

My boys LOVED the introductory skit Peter gave using hand and mouth puppets.  In fact, the entire PACKED audience was roaring with infectious laughter.  This particular show is a little boy's dream complete with a skeleton, bats, a cobra, scorpion, and cobra that bursts into FIRE!
