Who is Kaleidoscope Children’s Theater?

  • Justice Award from the Rhode Island Attorney General for the play "B.U..L.L.Y."

What was the show like?

The entire story of Rapunzel, which I consider a less known fairy tale,  was told using only three characters and one scenery change.  The actors were engaging and funny.  The storyline was familiar, but clearly their own version.  My two little boys didn't quite make a connection from the movie Tangled to the production we saw.

What I liked?

The entire atmosphere is very family friendly.  Everyone is there for the kids.  No one minds if a toddler needs to stretch their legs or if a baby is crying.  The audience participation portion was also fun.  The prince, looks to the audience for advice and information during the scene where he becomes blinded, and Rapunzel loses her memory. The children in the audience were shouting out answers to his questions and excitedly helping him thought the story.

What my kids liked?

My boys thought the name of the witch "Dumb Dora" was hilarious!  Also- the way she called for Rapunzel in a more upbeat style was very entertaining. Rapunzel was "beautiful" and the prince was "cool".  After the show, my little guy was so smitten and needed a picture with Rapunzel. My older guy, wanted a picture with the prince. The actors are so accommodating for pictures and autographs after the performances, it is something my children really enjoy and look forward to.
