Eight Cousins, an Independent Bookstore located in Falmouth, has been beloved by the local community and visitors alike for over 31 years. They carry a wide selection of children's and adult books, as well as some toys and novelty items.
For as long as I can remember, a gift certificate from this local bookstore has been the go-to birthday gift when going to a friends party, as well as a joy to receive at one's own birthday. A big red envelope covered with your favorite stickers that meant you could pick out a new book or two! So of course, when I grew up and had my own children introducing them to my favorite bookstore was essential. Now both my daughter and step-daughter love visiting and exploring the shelves of Eight Cousins as much as I always have.
One morning recently, however, the co-owners were shocked to discover major flooding damage including a caved-in roof. You can read all about it on their website here. While they are working with insurance companies and contractors to reopen in Spring 2018, they could use our help. The bookstore will have to be closed for months while awaiting repairs, losing income.
So many people in Falmouth have come out to show support and ask how to help this important business stay afloat. Eight Cousins has suggested the idea of buying Gift Certificates that can be used in the future when they reopen. What a grand idea, and so easy! Buy a gift card now and use it to shop at Eight Cousins when they reopen.
We have seen many past examples of how the people of Falmouth, and other Cape Cod towns, rally together to help their communities and I have no doubt that this time will be no exception!
